I am embarrassed to say that after living here for six years, I only recently discovered that there’s a company that makes delicious and affordable snack chips right up the road from me in South Beloit, IL. That company is Pajeda’s (pronounced Pah-jee’-das). Pajeda’s are made by Axium Foods, which has been family owned since 1960.
The best thing about Pajeda’s is that they’re trans-fat free and are retail priced at just $1 per bag! Why pay more?
Locally, Pajeda’s are sold at Woodman’s and Sullivan's. In the Chicagoland area, you can find Pajeda's at Fairplay Foods. If you can’t find them at your store, drop them a line and they’ll try to help you find them at a location near you. If Pajeda’s are not carried anywhere in your area, take just a second and fill out this form and give it to the manager of your local store. The form lets him or her know that you'd love to see Pajeda's carried at your store.
Pajeda's was gracious enough to send me a box filled with all 11 varieties! Here's how they describe each of their flavors:
In our house, we used these chips as a burger topping. Start with your favorite bun (we like pretzel buns, also found at Woodman's ), add your burger patty of choice, add some fresh guacamole, pepper jack cheese, and some Pajeda’s White Corn Tortilla Chips for a little CRUNCH. If you like your burgers on the spicy side, throw some Cholula (or your favorite hot sauce) on as well.
The Verdict: We loved all of the flavors of Pajeda's that we tried. They definitely compare with any name brand chip that I have eaten over the years. With summer fast approaching, they make the perfect compliment to any summer picnic or backyard cookout. My husband is known for his guacamole, and the White Corn Tortilla Chips will go perfectly with it. Now that I know Pajeda's is a local company that can be found at my favorite local grocery store, I will definitely be purchasing them. Did I mention that they're only $1 per bag?!? You truly do not need to spend a lot of money to get a high quality snack chip!
Not only did Pajeda's send me a case of all 11 varieties of their chips, they want to send one lucky Roscoe Ramblings reader a case of chips as well!
So, have YOU heard of, or tried Pajeda's? If so, what is your favorite flavor? If you have not heard of or tried them, what is your favorite type of snack chip? Let me know in the comment section below.

In the interest of full disclosure, Pajeda's provided me with a case of assorted chips to taste and review. No payment was received, and all opinions are my own!
